Literacy Volunteers offers individualized English language lessons with our trained volunteer tutors. This is a free service. Each student complete an application and is receives a standard assessment. There in average waiting period of 5-6 months to receive a tutor match for adult students over age 18. These tutors are volunteers who are provided an 18-hour ESL/ESOL training, on average have a bachelors degrees with a minimum of a high school education and is proficient in English and the match is made based on availability of both parties. The student and tutor will meet for two hours once a week in a public place such as the library or a local coffee shop.
