One-to-One Tutoring

Due to covid-19 and the office closure, we have temporarily suspended registration for our one-to-one tutoring program. Please continue to check our website for updates on reopening. Thank you for your understanding.

Literacy Volunteers offers individualized English language lessons with our trained volunteer tutors. This is a free service. Each student completes an application and receives a standard assessment. There is an average waiting period of 6 months. Our volunteer tutors must complete an 18-hour ESL/ESOL training or an 18-hour Adult Basic Education (ABE) training. Most have a Bachelor’s degree, and all have a minimum of a high school education. Student-tutor matches are made based on availability and interests. The student and tutor will meet for two hours once a week in a public place such as the library or a local coffee shop. All students in the tutoring program must complete an assessment at least once per year. To apply for tutoring, please visit the office or call to learn more at 508-754-8056 x1 or email info@lvgw.org.
